The profile of the International Book Fair of Thessaloniki

 

The project/act concerns the organization of the following events: 14th International Book Fair of Thessaloniki in May 2017 (11-14.05.2017), 15th International Book Fair of Thessaloniki in May 2018 (03-06.05.2018), 16th International Book Fair of Thessaloniki in May of 2019 (09-12.05.2019), 17th Thessaloniki International Book Fair in November 2020 (19-29.11.2020), 18th Thessaloniki International Book Fair in November 2021 (25-28.11.2021), 19th Thessaloniki International Book Fair in May 2023 and the 20th Thessaloniki International Book Fair in May 2024.

The Thessaloniki International Book Fair is an institution for the Region of Central Macedonia and is the only international book fair held in Greece, constituting cultural crossroads between Europe, the Balkans, the Mediterranean and the Middle East. It was inaugurated in May 2004, aiming to place Greece on the map of international book fairs and to create a new focal point for cultural and commercial transactions in the field of global publishing production. It is organized by the Hellenic Cultural Foundation in an area of ​​approximately 4,000 sq.m. which includes stands of publishing houses, Greek and foreign (around 240), an honored country stand, meeting spaces and rooms for parallel events and exhibitions.

Lasting 4 days, it is the most important annual appointment for the book and now ranks among the leading cultural institutions of the country, bringing together hundreds of publishers, authors, translators, literary agents, journalists, booksellers, librarians, foundations, agencies and organizations for the book from Greece, the Balkans, Western Europe, the Southeast Mediterranean and from all over the world. It is an open invitation from the book world to the reading public, which embraces it more and more every year (its loyal audience exceeds 55,000 people from Thessaloniki and from all over Greece.
