At a very interesting juncture for cultural affairs of Greece, in view of the announcements of the results of the excavations at Amphipolis, the International Cultural Academy 2014 in Olympia introduced participants to the basic concepts and theoretical schemes of international relations and cultural diplomacy. At the International Cultural Academy 2014 we critically examined the issues, conditions and opportunities at the intersection of international relations and cultural diplomacy and analyzed applications of public and cultural diplomacy through case studies and empirical observations.

At the Academy prominent academics from Greece and abroad, diplomats, members of the European Parliament gave lectures. The participants included members of the diplomatic service, doctoral candidates,  young researchers, as well as academics, from the US Belgium, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Azerbaijan, China, France, Italy, Greece, Kazakhstan , Turkey, Mexico, Suriname, Cyprus, Ukraine, Saudi Arabia, Jordan, Kosovo, Bolivia. The selection of participants was done by criteria of excellence, as the expression of interest was great.

During the Academy participants, in addition to following seminars, were able to share experience and research, had the opportunity to visit historical monuments, archaeological sites and the museum of Olympia, and come into contact with the way of life of the Greeks.

* Objects and Means of Cultural Diplomacy

TheInternational Cultural Academy was held in Olympia, at the beautiful conference center near the ancient Olympic site. The course fees included full board, accommodation, classes and excursions.
