2016-04-06-???-?? ????????? ? ρχαιολογικού Ντοκιμαντέρ 2The film begins in 2002, but the story begins in 1987 when archaeologist Petros Themelis undertakes the excavation of Ancient Messenia. The archaeological site in the serene landscape of mountainous Messenia  was then abandoned and chaotic. In the following years all the distinctive buildings of the city, founded in 397 BC to accept the exiled Messenians and withstand the pressures of Sparta, came to light. The walls, theater, stage, churches, private homes, burial monuments, sculptures, inscriptions … The geography of a huge city appears slowly, laboriously like a picture in darkroom: it is the framework for the traces of the people who inhabited the area. Meanwhile an effective restoration program adds to the monuments their third dimension and makes the city of late antiquity knowable, people return to the landscape, the monuments are brought to life and new uses emerge. The Third Life of Messina has begun ….
