Teti Kasioni and Giorgos Athanasiou in Bucharest

HFC–Bucharest, on the occasion of Greek Independence Day (March 25), invites you to a concert with Teti Kasioni and Giorgos Athanasiou. There will be two performances, on March 21 and March 23, 2016.

The concerts are held under the auspices of the Greek Embassy and will take place at the bookstore Cărtureşti Carusel, housed in the old building of Chrysoveloni family and the Romanian Cultural Institute.

Songs from the Mediterranean, the Greek-speaking areas of Southern Italy, Latin America and the Balkans take the open roads to reach remote destinations and find travel companions.

Giorgos Athanasiou and Teti Kasioni perform works by classic Greek composers: Manos Hadjidakis, Mikis Theodorakis, Xarchakos, Thanos Mikroutsikou, Vassilis Tsitsanis and other important Greek composers. The show invites listeners to connect with familiar music of yesterday with timeless value, which characterized and established Greek music worldwide.

Teti Kasioni is a young singer and songwriter, primarily engaged with traditional and art Greek song. Her participation in recent years, at venues that promote world music, contributed to her involvement with an international repertoire. She studied voice with Areti Topouzidi and studies classical guitar with Panagiotis Margari. She has collaborated with important Greek composers and songwriters. She is currently working on her first solo album and performs concerts at important music venues throughout Greece.

Born in Paramythia, Thesprotia. He has a BA in Harmony and Classical Guitar. He graduated from the Traditional Music Department, with the oud as his instrument and studied for a master’s in Classical Guitar with professor, soloist, and composer Kostas Grigoreas.
He has attended seminars on classical guitar, folk, rebetiko and electric guitar, as well as seminars on improvisation in jazz, musical expression and creation, and has participated in workshops focusing on the use of looping and other electronic effects with acoustic instruments.
