90 Years Theodorakis – Trieste

The Greek Orthodox Community of Trieste and the Giuseppe Verdi Theater of Trieste organize a concert “90 years Theodorakis” with music of the great Greek composer Mikis Theodorakis in Trieste on December 6th, 2015 at 20:30 in Sala Tripcovich.

The concert is organized as part of the Saint Nicholas celebrations, patron saint of the Greek Orthodox of Trieste in collaboration with the Province of Trieste, the Consulate General of Greece in Trieste, Trieste University – Modern Greek Language and Italian Culture Institute. Under the auspices of the Municipality of Trieste, the Greek Ministry of Foreign Affairs – Secretariat for Greeks Abroad and the Greek Ministry of Culture and Sports. The event was supported by the grants Fondazione CRT Trieste, the Greek Orthodox Community of Venice and Vanca Generali Spa di Trieste.

Mikis Theodorakis is one of the most important contemporary Greek composers, a politician and one of the most controversial and multidimensional personalities of modern Greece. In the 60 years of his career, Mikis Theodorakis has written more than 1,000 compositions of all kinds of music: operas, symphonic music, chamber music, oratorios, ballets, choral church music, music for ancient drama, theater and cinema, folk music and popular oratoria.

The works of Mikis Theodorakis will be performed by the orchestra of the Giuseppe Verdi Theater of Trieste under the direction of Maestro Paolo Longo, with the participation of the  Kostas Zaridakis on the bouzouki, the church choir of the Greek Orthodox Community in Trieste and the Mediterranean choir, with accompaniment of pianist Reana de Luca, under the direction of Maestro Ioanna Papaioannou.
