Byzantine Monuments – Bucharest

HFC–Bucharest participates in the Night of Cultural Institutes in Bucharest – a EUNIC event – with the exhibition “Early Christian and Byzantine Monuments of Thessaloniki” and the documentary “The Return.”

The documentary “The Return,” is directed by Giorgos Skantalari and produced by Desproduction and the Museum of Byzantine Culture in Thessaloniki, 2014.

The exhibition of the early Christian and Byzantine monuments of Thessaloniki is presented with the support of the European Commission in Bucharest and at the initiative of the Hellenic Foundation for Culture in Odessa. The exhibition is presented in digital format with explanatory texts, featuring the fifteen monuments of Thessaloniki which are listed as UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Sites:

– Monuments of the Early Christian period (4th to 6th century).

– Monuments of the dark centuries of the Middle Byzantine period (7th-13th century).

– Monuments of the Late Byzantine period (1204-1453).
