Culture and Crisis, a Seminar – Nicosia

The Crisis and the Future of Europe: From Economics to Politics, from Politics to Culture.

The event will be addressed by the Minister of Finance of Cyprus, Mr. Harris Georgiades and the Minister of Education and Culture of Cyprus Dr. Costas Kadis.

The event aims to investigate the effects of the crisis on the political systems of Greece and Cyprus and to what degree this affects the future of the European Union. Leading professors and academics will explore wider areas of concern and issues diffused in Greece, Cyprus, Europe and internationally that are related to the financial sector, social and political sciences, economics and culture.
Special emphasis will be put on the perspective and processes of the EU in the fragile, modern, international environment and the interaction and interconnection between economy, politics and culture. Keynote speakers of the meeting are former minister and chairman of the board of the National Bank of Greece, Professor Louka Katseli and former minister and former representative of Greece to the IMF, Professor Panagiotis Roumeliotis.

The event marks the official inauguration of the bilateral cooperation between Frederick University and Panteion University at the research and postgraduate levels in the fields of humanities, political and social science.
